Legal Basis for Dietary Supplement Registration
Registration of dietary supplements is a mandatory procedure required for the lawful placement of a product on the market of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Customs Union. It confirms compliance of the dietary supplement with safety, composition, and packaging requirements and provides the legal basis for market circulation.
The procedure is governed by the Technical Regulations of the Customs Union and Order No. KR DSM-336/2020 dated December 30, 2020 of the Minister of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Competent Authorities
The dietary supplement registration process is carried out through:
- The Sanitary and Epidemiological Control Committee of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan;
- Nutritest LLP Accredited Laboratory;
- Kazakh Academy of Nutrition Public Association LLP Expert Organization.
Main Registration Stages
1. Safety and Composition Assessment
- Evaluation of the product for compliance with safety requirements;
- Verification of the dietary supplement composition against the declared ingredients;
- Assessment of compliance with the Technical Regulations of the Customs Union.
2. Preparation of the Complete Documentation Package
- Compilation of the documentation package in accordance with Order No. KR DSM 336/2020 of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan;
- Submission of instructions for use and packaging templates in Kazakh and Russian.
3. Packaging Assessment
- Dietary supplements must comply with the requirements of Technical Regulation of the Customs Union TR CU 005/2011 On Packaging Safety, including quality, labeling, and packaging material safety requirements.
4. Amendments to the State Registration Certificate (Reissuance)
- Replacement or reissuance of the certificate and its appendices without additional testing or studies;
- The procedure is carried out in accordance with Order No. KR DSM-336/2020 of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan (Appendix 3);
- Particular attention is paid to the proper preparation of documents and compliance with amendment procedures.
